Summer Make-up Policy

ArtWorks greatly modifies the make-up policy for the summer. We recognize that during the summer months some students will miss multiple classes due to vacations and camps. Given this, we allow UNLIMITED scheduled make-ups for notified absences during June, July, and August. With all scheduled make-ups, you can immediately begin scheduling make-up classes once you notify us of an absence. For example, if your student will be absent the entire month of June, you can schedule the month of missed classes in March, April, and May BEFORE you miss those summer classes, as well as in July and August. This will offer the greatest range of possible make-up times for your student. Keep in mind that the more availability you list for your student, the easier it is for us to accommodate your make-up scheduling. In exchange for that flexibility, we require that ALL make-ups for summer absences are completed by the end of August.

If you intend to give up your space this summer either permanently (for graduating seniors) or temporarily with the hope to resume sometime during the next school year, we ask that you please notify our office with as much advanced notice as possible, but no later than the 10th of the month, to discontinue classes the following month. Please be aware that there are always a large number of people requesting to return at the end of summer, and never enough students vacating slots to accommodate the demand. In high demand class times, we may not have spaces to offer until later in the school year, or even the following summer or school year. If you notify our office that you would like to withdraw your student, please make sure to put them on the waiting list to restart at the same time to allow adequate time for your student to work their way back up the waiting list.
