ARTWORKS HEALTH AND SAFETY PROTOCOL

ALL ARTWORKS STAFF, STUDENTS, FAMILY MEMBERS AND CAREGIVERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO WEAR AN EFFECTIVE FACE MASK AT ALL TIMES WHEN ARTWORKS CLASSES ARE IN SESSION (BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF OUR STUDIOS) REGARDLESS OF VACCINATION STATUS AND CURRENT CITY AND STATE ORDINANCES

Please send your student in a face covering that they are comfortable wearing throughout their time at the studios. If forgotten, we will have some disposable face masks available, but these masks are standard sized surgical-style masks and may not be a perfect fit for every student. So, please do your best to remember to send your student with their own properly fitted mask.

ONGOING HEALTH MONITORING FOR ALL ARTWORKS STAFF AND STUDENTS AT HOME

Students and staff must commit to ongoing health screening and monitoring of symptoms at home prior to arrival at the ArtWorks studios.

  • We ask that parents are diligent about monitoring for any signs and symptoms of illness in their child and take their temperature before coming to class (any student with a temperature of 100 degrees or above will not be allowed to enter class). Please inform us and DO NOT SEND your child to class even if they are experiencing mild symptoms. Our staff will follow the same protocol.
  • Students will have a second screening at ArtWorks, so please be safe and save a trip if your student is symptomatic in any way.

DROP OFF / PICK UP AND SOCIAL DISTANCING

In order to control the number of people on the premises at all times, please do not have your student arrive at ArtWorks any earlier than 5 minutes prior to the start of their class, and please pick them back up promptly after their class ends.

  • We ask that all families are especially mindful when dropping off their student that there is the adequate amount of space needed to maintain social distance. At times it may be the best option to wait with your student in the car for a moment to avoid unnecessary congestion.
  • Our stairways will have signage to remind everyone to allow for a 3 - 4 stair distance between people and to wait if someone is coming in the opposite direction until they are off of the stairway.
  • Our waiting areas are currently reserved for queuing students before classes only. We ask parents/ caregivers to only enter the studios for drop off and pick up if absolutely necessary to limit our group sizes. If you have concerns about not remaining in the waiting area during your student's class, please let us know and we will do our best to make safe accommodations.
  • We recognize that many of our families prefer to do curbside drop-off and pick-up with their child. If you choose to do so, please make sure to have a clear conversation with your child about all the above and also ensure that they are conscious about practicing safe social distancing while waiting.

TEMPERATURE READING AND HAND SANITIZING BEFORE ENTERING THE CLASS

When students enter the studio, they will queue up according to the indicated signage and markings in the waiting area.

  • Students will only be permitted to enter the classroom after a staff member has given them hand sanitizer to rub on their hands and their temperature has being taken with a "non-touch" (infrared) thermometer.
  • Per The American Academy of Pedriatrics guidelines, the range of "normal" pediatric temperatures should fall between 97.0 and 100.3. To err on the side of caution all students entering their ArtWorks class must have a temperature BELOW 100 degrees. If a student is outside of that range of 97.0 to 99.9, the student will not be allowed to stay for class and a parent will be contacted for pick up. We reiterate the importance of AT HOME screening prior to coming to class to greatly minimize the potential of this happening.

IN CLASS AND LEAVING CLASS

Social distancing practices will be maintained while students are in class and when exiting the studios.

  • Students will be prohibited from retrieving their own supplies. Student movement throughout the class and at cleanup will be greatly minimized or nonexistent. Students will remain seated except if they need to use the restroom or are instructed to stand in order to receive teacher assistance.
  • Teachers will dismiss students individually in a controlled/ staggered manner to minimize congestion upon leaving the class. Teachers will monitor students leaving the studios.

SUPPLY USE AND LOTS OF HAND SANITIZER

We have very minimal shared supply use/touch in our studios. We remain diligent in making sure that teachers and students have clean and sanitized hands before touching any shared material.

  • All supply kits are either quarantined for a period of 48 hours or completely wiped down and sanitized prior to use by another student.
  • There are some materials that teachers will control and solely touch including curriculum binders, paint bottles, turpentine jars, etc. Teachers will individually disperse these clean/sanitized supplies to students.

INTENSIFIED SANITIZING, CLEANING, DISINFECTING, AND VENTILATION

  • When using the bathroom all students must put down the toilet seat prior to flushing and thoroughly wash their hands before returning to their bench. We have posted signs to help remind students.
  • To help maintain air flow and ventilation, we continue to have the front doors open and have medical grade air purifiers using H13 HEPA filters running at all times while classes are in session.
  • Staff performs regular disinfecting of surfaces throughout the day.

OUR OFFICE

  • Please come to our MAIN OFFICE window in Studio E if you need to correspond directly with our office.
  • Due to the challenges of having clear phone communication through a mask and the fact that our office staff is quarantined within an enclosed/sealed space you will see our office staff is often unmasked while inside of the office. In order to protect our office staff and families we will keep the glass counter window closed at all times when communicating with parents and students in the studio. However, office staff will always put on a mask whenever they leave the confines of the office.
  • If the office is closed there is the option to leave an Absence/ Makeup or Parent Note form in the Black Drop Box located on the ledge in front of the office window OR you can leave a voicemail or email the office and we will contact you back when our office re-opens.
